Thou shalt not be a selfish pig

Sorry world for not giving out any advice for the past few months, school got really busy, then the summer came around, and I realized that my goal of one blog entry a day was extremely farfetched.. so I’m going to take my time and see what happens.
I just started reading this book on my Android phone (Droid Incredible 2) and its called “The Ten Commandments of Marriage”.
Now before you jump ahead and think that I got eloped over the summer, or something drastic happened in my life… your wrong …. I’m simply studying up, reading the bible, and waiting for God to show me the next steps in this circle of life. But I will tell you one thing ….. being an amazing husband is my passion, before any job, before any pay check, I want to make sure that my ducks are in a row, I want to make sure that the ones that REALLY matter in life have a firm foundation and are able to succeed at anything (hence why im being a studious boyfriend).
So the First commandment that this book talks about is “Thou shalt not be a selfish pig”
ADAM AND EVE
I believe that God made “Marriage” and the “relationship” a high priority in our lives. After all, the first marriage, the first relationship, took place many many years ago in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve were Gods perfect relationship, there was no flaw, there was no sin, and there was certainty no arguing!  Until the serpent came along …….
For those unfamiliar with the story of Adam and Eve, in short, it goes like this. God made man, and called him Adam. After some time, God saw that Adam was lonely. So one night God takes one of Adams ribs and uses that to make Eve, he did this so man and woman were always together, connected, one. Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden with free reign to do whatever they desire …. But one thing… God told Adam never to eat the apple from the tree of Good and Evil. Adam obeyed God’s order and went about living his life with Eve.
…..One day Eve was out on a walk. As she walked by the tree of Good and Evil a serpent stopped her and started a conversation.  “You should take an apple from the tree of Good and Evil, the only reason why God doesn’t want you to have it is because if will give you the power and wisdom God possesses”. Eve picked and bit the apple, brought it to Adam, and told him to bite the apple, and he did.
Thou shalt not be a selfish pig starts right about now…. After Adam and Eve both bit the apple God came to them, asking why they disobeyed him. Adam tells God that Eve made him do it, that she bit the apple first, and Eve told God that the serpent made her do it. The perfect marriage, at that very moment in time, became flawed; people now had a sin nature.

PUPPY LOVE
In my opinion, selfishness is one of the biggest problems relationships face. People are caught up in this fake mentality that the other person should make them happy, and that self-gratification is what’s most important…. And that’s where their wrong…..
Puppy love is good for a period of time, when you don’t really have an idea of who the person is, and your still trying to protect yourself from anything that might hurt you. But after a while, that needs to disappear. The longer you try to protect yourself and think about what is best for you, the shorter your relationship life span becomes. If both people are in it for them, then nobody is ever going to be happy.
Reaching mature love is key in having a long lasting healthy relationship. Mature love seeks to give to the other person; is patient in spite of other’s flaws; responds gently and appropriately to irritants; and is transparent and vulnerable

I am only 22, I do not claim to know exactly what love is yet, and I am certainly not claiming to have any wisdom behind a healthy marriage … simply because I am not married. But I will tell you one thing… Being a good person, loving unconditionally, and putting your needs second to that person you love is a good start to a healthy relationship. Secondly God should be the center of your relationship. Try and see it as an equilateral triangle, God being the top apex of the triangle and the two people in their corners. The closer those corners get to God, the closer those two people become.

If it’s your world, it’s your problem!

I conducted a little test today before I went to class…. I took 3 plastic soda bottles and placed them next to a garbage can which happens to be on the corner of a crowded walk way.
When the 8:30am crowd was walking to their class… people simply disregarded the bottles were even there… one cadet actually kicked a bottle against the sea wall on the other side of the street…
My friends…. Honestly…. What would you have done?
You see a bottle on the side of the road… and 95% of you wouldn’t even stop to pick it up and throw it away.

Now when you think about it…. That’s sad
Another scenario…
I was in DC a few months ago with my roommate…
We were walking around trying to figure out what to do…
We decided to go into the local CVS next to our hotel an get a few snacks for that night, and I couldn’t help but notice the man sitting next to the garbage can outside the door to CVS… he wasn’t holding a sign… he wasn’t asking for money… it almost looked like he had given up on life and simply threw himself away…
I walked into CVS and without saying anything to my roommate… I put in a BIG tuna sandwich, two yogurts, a granola bar, and one of those wicked long waters that you need two hands to carry…
My roommate laughed and said “man you must be hungry”
I simply smiled at him knowing very well that I was not only going to bless this man with a huge meal… I was going to teach my roommate a lesson about the value of life and how everyone should be treated equally
We walk outside and sure enough… the man was still leaning on the trash can…
I walk over to him, got on my knees so I could be at eye level to him… and presented him with his feast…
I could tell he was extremely grateful because his eyes widened and almost seemed relieved that he wouldn’t go hungry that day.
Friends… brothers… sisters
we see on the news everyday that we are fighting a war overseas, we see every day on the news poverty in Africa, South America, and other parts of the world. Still, for some reason we feel utterly guilty because we don’t have the time or the money to fly over and give these kids the hugs they so desperately need, the clothing to teenagers so they can walk about society not feeling ashamed, the homes to parents who just want to see their children succeed…
so we do nothing

we leave it up for others…. The “more fortunate” to take care of
the people who have the means to help…. We let them take care of it
WAKE UP!!!! FRIENDS THERE IS POVERTY IN OUR OWN BACK YARDS!!! You think the on terrorism is the only one we are fighting?!?!?! WHAT ABOUT THE KKK! THE BLOODS! KRIPS! Gangs are KILLING the young generations’ people! And we aren’t doing anything because we
DON’T
THINK
WE
CAN
Well I’ll tell you what…. And it might be cheesy …. But I believe in a god who says ALL things are possible! Not one who says that only if you have money you can help
Why don’t you take a straw and suck up your disgusting ego a little bit and volunteer at the local soup kitchen
Trust me… once a month feeding the less fortunate is a good start to ending world hunger
Did you know that if 10% .... TEN PERCENT… of professing Christians in this world adopted ONE! Child…. There wouldn’t be any orphanages…

Now I bet your sitting down right now on your Mac Laptop in your heated home on a nice chair, sipping a cup of coffee…. Reading this blog…. Thinking to yourself “I do my fair share… I help out plenty”
Why stop there? Don’t settle for “comfortable” strive every day to get better
Pick up the garbage you see on the side of the road…. ITS NOT GOING TO KILL YOU
Walk into a CVS and pick up an extra sandwich… maybe a $2 bus pass…
God forbid you don’t get your fourth Starbucks that day…
Listen friends

We all live in this world together
If you’re not going to contribute to our cause ….
If you’re not going to help fight the good fight…

Why are you here?

I'll do that Tomorrow

I believe Americans are faced with this problem on a daily basis! (some on a weekly basis)
It’s called the "tomorrow complex"
now, I'm no doctor, but i definitely know this complex well enough to diagnose it to anyone who says the words "I’ll do it tomorrow"
"I’ll start tomorrow"

well listen my brothers and sisters! if you don’t start today... you might not get tomorrow!! I hate to be rash and extremely blunt but its the 100% truth.
YOU! Yea YOU! I see you fatty! Reading this blog thinking about when you should eat your next meal or watch the next episode of the office! i bet you have thought to yourself "man, this weight could kill me" or maybe even your doctor told you that you need to lose weight! WHAT ARE YOU "WEIGHTING" FOR!
listen, i know.... it’s hard to get up and go to the gym.... its hard to get up and physically MAKE yourself walk around the block.... and since its so hard you decide that your probably going to have more energy TOMORROW.... so you put it off.....
and then,
when tomorrow rolls around
your tired again.... so you BRILLIANTLY realize that the next day... your going to have more energy...and then you know what happens..... its RAINING!
noooo you can’t walk in the rain.... so its the next day
But wait... you have work the next day =)
so you put it off another day... then another.... then another
UNTIL
you’re on a hospital bed because your so fat you fell down and couldn't get back up
next scenario
you are with the girl of your dreams
you have been with her for a long long long time... so long even though you aren't married, it sure feels like it!
I have a question for you ya knuckle head....
why don’t you poop the question out of your butt and POP the question!
So what if you don’t have a ring! She’s going to love you more then the ring anyways
Stop and shop has ring vending machines for 25 cents.... if you cant afford a 25 cent ring.... give me a call
I’ll buy it for you!

i really dont know why people put things off until tomorrow.... because really.... today could be your last day
FATTY! you still reading?? ohh you better be! because check this out
before you go to McDonald for your hourly dollar menu...
There is a term... it’s called Carpe Diem
Seize the Day
Are you going to watch an opportunity that will potentially better your future…
Slip right through your finger tips?
There are people out there WISHING they could be fortunate enough to walk outside and jog around their block!
Ghettos
Slums
There are places where walking amlisley just isn’t an option.. for fear you might be shot… or worse
Other wish they could WALK
How selfish are WE that WE take every little thing for granted!
In some countries woman ….. girls…. as young as 12 years old are FORCED
To marry 40 year old men…
And if they don’t want to … or fight against it… they are KILLED
IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET
Its called
HONOR killing!
(girls as young as 12 years old)

(GIRLS murdered in the streets because they chose not to be forced into marriage)
(this is allowed by law.....Sharia Law)

People we have the wrong mindset
We think that we have tomorrow… we think that we are owed another chance…
A chance to make up where we failed

Friends… we aren’t owed a thing….

Tomorrow is a GIFT

Never forget that

“Hmmm…..Ill order the… no wait…”

Going out to dinner can be frustrating at times, especially when you don’t know what you want to eat.
Men deal with this problem all too often… “So babe, decide what you want to order?” This is a question that haunts restaurants nation-wide… no…. world-wide!

Well I have two solutions for you MEN
If you decide to go out to dinner… heed my warning
If you want your date night to be a successful one, I have two simple words… PRE PLAN
When you wake up that morning maybe ask your significant other what she wants to do that night, where she wants to go…. This isn’t to get an answer quite yet, this is just to get the ball rolling.
Then mid day shoot her a text “dinner 2night, any ideas?”

Yes it’s as simple as that

Now…. If your spouse knows exactly what she wants trust me…. You will find out
But let’s say throughout the day she doesn’t give you an answer, or says “it’s up to you”… this doesn’t give you carte blanche to go to the local Applebee’s because they have cheep beer and big burgers…. Men…. This is a test….If you pass the test… 9 out of 10 you’re going to be a happy….very happy (because when she’s happy you’re happy… duh)….  If you fail this test, and your spouse is feeling generous… you might be sleeping in the comfort of your dog house.

To pass this test…. No… to BAIRLY pass this test… make reservations…. Doesn’t matter where …. Just make them! If you tell her “we have reservations for 6” trust me, that’s alot better than sorry babe… I forgot… or….. The place didn’t take reservations because they are a franchised chain like Bertucci’s, Chili’s, or Friendly’s…..(unless they like Bertuccie’s)  which really all your saying is that you’re a cheap date
Okay so you’ve told your spouse about the reservations… you and her get all dazzled up… you go out…. Buy wine by the bottle… not the glasses (it’s classier) (if the place is expensive, the carafe or half carafe are close alternatives)

Then the waiter comes over to take your order… MEN PLEASE DON’T MESS THIS ONE UP! Women are sometimes embarrassed they haven’t decided on what they want to order…. For you pro husbands out there you can always order for them… if you are unsure about what they would like… simply throw yourself under the buss and say something funny “ya know, im so bad at this, I can’t even read what is on the menu, Pasta E Fagioli, is that French or Italian?  Can you recommend something that’s delicious nutritious and made in the USA?” That cute little diversion just won the night… trust me.

After dinner:

All your hard work pays off and you decide to take her for a walk… you pass a movie theater and you ask if she wants to see a movie… excited, she starts reading the 50 different movie titles that are all playing in the next 10 minutes…. you decide to take the initiative to suggest a movie you will love and think she will love also…. “How about we see **** staring ****” she doesn't know how to decline so she pretends she doesnt hear you …
you, being well aware that she heard you decides to ask the daring question
“what do you want to see?” and she says:
“Hmmm…..I want to see… no wait…”

Play nice children

EUREKA! and coffee???

so i have decided what I'm going to base my blog off of...

Have you ever woken up on the wrong side of the bed? gone through the day facing pointless problem after problem? well thats exactly what this blog is going to be about =) problems...

now not just big problems... but little problems... really LITTLE problem that you and i and the rest of the readers face every day!
a few examples of these problems would be:
no toilet paper in your house or
the cat pooped on the floor and not the litter box
and even as basic as "what am i going to make for dinner"

these are just a few problems people face throughout their every day lives, and I'm going to try to resolve them for you.....

so the first problem i tackle this morning is:

I LOVE coffee, I NEED coffee...... but don't "got milk"

now believe it or not, this is a problem millions of Americans face on a daily basis
maybe its because your refrigerator is broken, or maybe its because 90% of your family is lactose intolerant

well let me start by telling you this...
i HATE black coffee
cant STAND it
soo what do i do when there is no milk in the house... no cream in the house....
i simply spice things up a little bit

LITERALLY!

putting different spices in coffee take the bitter blahh taste away

get your cup of Joe.... then get a tsp of nutmeg or cinnamon
and simply stir the two together...
its so simple right? YES
not being able to have coffee in the morning brings out the monster in me ha and ... its just not cool

so in the end... not having milk in your coffee isn't the worst thing that could happen...
you just need to spice things up

just pray your coffee maker doesn't break!

hope this starts your morning off right =)

Sooo much pressure, not enough time

REALLY??? why is it that from the second year of high school people..... YOUNG PEOPLE...... are expected by SOCIETY to know what they want to do when they are FORTY!
people ask the question alll the time "what do you want to be when you grow up" and they ask it so frequently that it becomes a mind set in the young people that they think "ohh snap, ive been asked this question for the past 16 years of my little puny little life that.. hmmmm... maybe i should take it seriously" and "maybe my 15 year old brain has gathered enough wisdom to plan out my entire life"

come on people! do you really think TV brain washes civilization? its ME its YOU its your BEST FRIEND we all corrupt each other!

now really... putting things in perspective...  maybe having a GENERALIZED idea of what you wanna do is a good thing... but friends... its a general idea

i asked my 8 month old niece what she wanted to be when she got older.... she looked at me.. pooped her pants.. and banged pots and pans together because they made noise!
i started laughing because i thought it was so cute (minus the poop part)

we need to just take one giant chill pill  =)

there is this man i know pretty well now... known him all my life actually.... i guess hes a pretty cool guy, kinda old... he can walk on water tho, which i think is pretty cool... and the whole thing he did with the wine at the party... well... lets just say being 21... I'm a wine connoisseur.... (just kidding)...

what my point is... there is a passage in the bible (for all you who didn't know i was describing Jesus.... i was describing Jesus.... =) now you know) that talks about your purpose in life.... kinda like the metaphor "if god gives you lemons, make lemonade"... almost exactly like that actually... although it reads "if god gives you a purpose, make a purpose driven life" sounds catchy right?
try something that is actually in the BIBLE or basic instructions before leaving earth for all my Sunday schoolers out there ;)

proverbs 16:9
In a mans heart he plans his course,
but the LORD directs his footsteps.

now i dont know about you my friend.... but trusting god... its prob a good idea...
and for those who dont have a relationship with god and dont really know if they can trust him... im gunna ask you one simple question:

when you get into your car what is the first thing you do
A) go to the bathroom
B) pick your nose
C) build a catwalk
D) put on your seatbelt

if you chose D) my friends .... lets just say trusting god is a little more important then putting on your seat belt

thank you all for listening

and for Mike Zuckerberg
LATER!
